Guitarist DAVY KNOWLES has announced that his new album “What Happens Next” will be released October 22nd via Provogue Records/Mascot Label Group.
The 34-year-old Manx-born guitarist and blues singer is best known for his association with Back Door Slam.
With Back Door Slam, he played lead guitar and sang on their debut album, Roll Away.
In April 2009, Knowles toured with British guitarist Jeff Beck on his American tour. He toured with Joe Satriani and Chickenfoot in the United States through December 2009 and toured with the Grateful Dead drummer-band the Rhythm Devils, in 2010.
Produced by the award-winning Grammy nominated Eric Corne (John Mayall, Joe Walsh, Joe Bonamassa) the new album, titled ‘What Happens Next’ is expected to be a departure from Knowles’ usual enthusiastic & reverent take on blues and Americana, this time offering poetic compositions that come packed with soulful voice and mellow guitar-play.
The 12-song new body of work will deliver a peaks & valleys of heartfelt sound as it winds through muscular riffs, jazz ‘n’ blues ballads and vintage soul numbers, before concluding with one of Knowles’s most personal songs released to date.
“When it came time to record this album, it was all about supporting the songs as opposed to ‘how quickly I can get to the guitar solo’,” says the musician, now based in Chicago.
“I’m not a purist, and the way for roots music to stay relevant is to adapt and progress.”
The new album What Happens Next is due October 22nd via Provogue Records
