The Croatian blues rock/blues outfit VOODOO RAMBLE featuring Boris Zamba release a new single with a very special guest musician, the Italian heritage (though UK-raised) guitarist & singer Mick Pini.
‘I’m A Blues Man Baby’ is the brand new single with Pini, who started playing guitar when he was nine years old. He founded his first band at 15, played in various formations, including many times with the band Baby at the Cavern Club, Liverpool. His first Mike Vernon-produced album Unamerican Activities featured Chris Farlowe (amongst other luminary names.)

The Voodoo Ramble single takes a trip back to the fundamentals of blues music to become a lip-smacking appetizer for the band’s forthcoming fifth album. By all acccounts, Zamba touched base with Pini at his German studio, House of Happiness. The two guitarists hit it off since both appreciate authentic blues. After they tuned and jammed, they knew right away the shimmering blue groove they were conjuring was some kind of abracadabra!
The single features Zamba on guitar and vocal, Pini on guitar, with Damir Somen on drums, and Neven Resnik on Hammond. It was mixed & produced by Dragutin Smokrovic-Smokva (aka The Fig).
At the start, the sound is a captivating interminglement of notes, with sunshiny guitar fillagree-work, a bop-bouncing pace, and some supple organ. The voice contains a hint of organdy & cognac, and then the head-bobbing rhythmic chug becomes irresistibly enticing. Yep, this is a sophisticated blues bombazet of mastery!
