THE COMMONERS are a diligent ensemble of competent creatives on a mission to reinvigorate the classic roots rock and blues genre.
Their 2024 album Restless is a brimming hoopla of rooting-tooting choruses, interspersed with slower-paced and thoughtfully meditative tracks of joyful transcendence.
Now The Commoners release the title track from their album as a single. See the video (shared below.)
“Restless” is a softly swaying blues ballad with a poetic tone and plaintive landscapey imagery.
The song is about managing the kind of unease & apprehension we have all been feeling since the global pandemic… and since then, dealing with the emotionally charged events that occur all around us but, we feel, we are unable to put aside, mentally or physically.
But the message of the song is that, even though we might feel restless, we are not powerless; because we can overcome our fears, to find solace in the embrace of love, in art, and in music.
The Commoners will be touring Europe and the UK during November and into December, and opening for Canadian heavyweights The Sheepdogs. Dates on poster (below video.)
Tickets for all concerts are available from www.thecommoners.ca/tour
