On 13th October Discotexas presents ‘1975’, the life affirming debut album by Xinobi, AKA Portuguese DJ, producer, musician and vocalist Bruno Cardoso.
Xinobi has previously made waves with his remixes and re-edits of John Grant, Riva Starr, Toro Y Moi, Agnes Obel, Kris Menace and Nicholas Jaar. In addition to a string of high-profile re-rubs, Xinobi has built his name with successful singles for labels including Ministry Of Sound, Work It Baby, Discotexas, and Nurvous (part of the legendary NY house imprint Nervous).
‘1975’ is preceded by the single ‘Mom and Dad’ released in September – also on Discotexas.
We had a listen:
This has the indolent free-riding spirit and lazy twang of the wild-west.
With delicious butter-bucket rhythms… The vowels in that voice (is it Iwona Skwarek of Rebeka?) are seductive and sensual.
The vocal sounds reverberate like the beating gutter-flaps that surround it.
It all becomes a hypnotic fasoulada of heated emotions and peppery sauciness.
Sultry finger-clicking gunslinger grooves – with enough dance-sassitude to keep the scorpions out of your boots.
