The Swedish, Stockholm-based folk ‘n’ blues singer, MARLENE OAK has released her new single, “Slip Away” co-written with Per Eklund and out via Pancakes and Whiskey ahead of an EP, due out in January 2019.

After releasing a few songs, she has built a large following on pub and festival stages around the country. Marlene has enchanted audiences with her folk-rock act and has opened for Miss Li, Whitney Rose, Susto, and been a part of the line-up at lots of great festivals over the summer.
“It’s about a hideaway and a break from the day-to-day routines that we all get stuck in…” she says, about the song. “I wanted to capture that feeling of floating and swaying away. ”
The number is a cheerful, janglesome tootle, with slightly salty vocals reminiscent of the sour raspy goodness of Stevie Nicks, and thus, despite the floating theme, this pop song a melancholy air. The soul seems anchored in a more discouraging place… maybe that’s why she wants us to fly away with her!
