Bristol UK cult lounge-core act EMILY BREEZE will release her second single “Ego Death” on the 8th March 2019.
The former leader of post-punk psychedelic rockers “Candy Darling” recorded the disc at Rockfield studios [ produced by Stew Jackson — Massive Attack, Nick Cave, Tom Waits]

The single is accompanied by remixes from Former Bad Seed and David Lynch composer Barry Adamson, Retro Futurist improv maniacs Modulus III and Giallo Disco deviant Antoni Maiovvi.
Beguiling as it is misanthropic, “Ego Death” is a cynical vision inspired by Emily’s internal, sometimes unpleasant, monologue during a bus trip to work through the bowels of downtown Bristol to a spiritless industrial area on the outskirts of the city.
A departure from her characteristic lounge-noir, the song finds the band (Rob Norbury lead guitar, Andy Sutor drums, Duncan Fleming organ and Graham Dalzell bass) as sleazy-as-can-be — perhaps to compensate for Emily’s creative, tragi-comic lyrics: “I drink a joyless cup of Gregg’s coffee” or “Today’s specials are ego death coupled with a side of nameless longing”. The rhythms are sloppy and unkempt, the synths are chic and the sound dynamics are overtly heroic…
This is a maladaptive pop-fayre at its most glorious and is offered-up for all the half-crazed, disenchanted and tousled souls of our society (so, perhaps, all of us.) You’ll find it as satiny and sinister as Pulp and as smooth and as revolutionary as Serge Gainbourg.
A hypnotic and peevishly spoken modern-day Waste Land that’s as foreboding as it is glossy…
