Raised in Ladbroke Grove, London, by musical parents, Cleo’s R&B, Soul & Pop fuses her unique heritage (her mother is half Serbian, half Spanish and her father is Jamaican) and is something that is truly her own.
Riding high on the buzz around her latest free download, ‘Borderline’, Cleo has now released her new track, ‘Teardrop’. It is available via free download on Soundcloud.
Premiered on BBC Radio 1Xtra this week by MistaJam, ‘Teardrop’ is a beautiful mash-up of The Verve’s ‘Bitter Sweet Symphony’, Massive Attack’s ‘Teardrop’ and Cleo’s lyrics in the opening verse.
We had a listen to ‘Teardrop’ and here’s what we thought:
Centred around a filament of hazy, cloudy synths, Cleo’s butter-cream vocal brims with assured confidence and recondite sentiment.
The lyrical ‘Teardrops’ pitter-patter onto the fiery surfaces of the song - to hiss and sizzle.
It all adds up to a passionate countenance – glimpsed through the veiled threads.
